Inclusive Leadership Course: Developing Trauma Informed Practice

At Thomas Aveling School, Director of Inclusion Rebekah Chew applied learning from The Difference Inclusive Leadership Course (ILC) to embed trauma-informed, inclusive practice across the school. Using simple, high-impact strategies such as student passports, pictorial MIS codes, and improved staff awareness, the school increased support for vulnerable learners while minimising additional workload. Staff now share information confidently, pupil voice shows students feel more “seen,” and inclusion is fully integrated into day-to-day practice – demonstrating how ILC equips leaders to build sustainable, school-wide inclusive culture.
