Using data to strengthen whole-school inclusion

At John Spence Community High School, leaders are strengthening their whole-school inclusion strategy by using data to identify pupils who may be at risk of exclusion or lost learning earlier. After joining The Difference’s Inclusive Leadership Course (ILC), the school introduced a tiered system to track pupil needs and deliver targeted support through its Student Engagement Centre before reintegrating pupils into mainstream classrooms.

The approach helps staff intervene earlier, reduce barriers to learning, and build a more sustainable, inclusive model of support across the school.
