The Difference Schools Partnership
ACE Alternative Provision in Luton, part of The Difference Schools Partnership, used inclusive leadership and asset-based strategies to reduce internal truancy and improve pupil belonging. Working with The Difference’s Implementation Partner and staff, ACE reworked systems like ‘workslips’ and PSHE curriculum, trained staff on inclusive interactions, and introduced practical measures such as hot breakfasts and late detentions. These interventions helped pupils like Freddie re-engage with lessons, increasing attendance to 77% and reducing internal truancy, showing how targeted inclusion and belonging-focused strategies transform outcomes in alternative provision.
