Reducing exclusion through a Whole-School approach to Inclusion

At The Two Counties Trust, leaders are strengthened whole-school inclusion to reduce exclusion and improve attendance across their schools. Through The Difference’s Inclusive Leadership Course, senior leaders aligned around a shared approach to inclusion as core classroom practice, not an add-on. This has led to measurable impact, including halved suspensions, reduced persistent absence and improved attendance, particularly for vulnerable pupils. The trust is now expanding its inclusion base offer across schools to support early intervention and prevent lost learning, demonstrating how a consistent, trust-wide approach can improve outcomes for all pupils.
